About ten weeks ago, ICE deported a guy from my hometown, Youngstown, Ohio. Despite widespread support from both the community and the area's congressman, Amer Adi was arrested and sent back to Jordan after almost 40 years in the US. Amer's story moved me to write a song--it's called "Welcome Home (Amer's Song)". The immigration rights organization America's Voice is using it to help bring attention to the issue, and yesterday the Youngstown Vindicator ran a story about me and the song (color photo & all!). My 90 yr. old mom loved seeing my mug in her Sunday morning paper.
You can hear the song and see a video of Amer's saga here
